Living in King Tides

The small islands of Tubigon have been experiencing severe tidal flooding for more than a decade now, and have learned to live with the ebbing and flowing of the tides. Despite the impacts of tidal flooding, life goes on in the islands. The islanders have now elevated their roads, raised the floors of their homes and schools, and reorganized their daily activities to anticipate high tides. Surprisingly, the atmosphere on the islands during tidal flooding events remain jovial. However, the islanders are also acutely aware of the dangers when these floods coincide with typhoons, and have learned to protect their lives and livelihoods as well.
